Mariam, the newest addition to the AAF family of talented young musicians from the regions of Armenia, is the proud recipient of a flute donated to the Atken Armenian Foundation by Professor Simon Channing, Head of Woodwind at the world-renowned Royal College of Music in London. Indefinitely on loan to Mariam, the timing of the arrival of this flute couldn't have been better: her own flute was no longer functioning in lower registers!
Born in 2002, Mariam is a top prize winner at numerous national competitions and comes from a family of musicians. Just like Garabed, one of our flute students in Yegheknadzor, Mariam was selected to participate in the Armenian Independence Generation Orchestra last September. Mariam, who lives in Gyumri, is also an avid gymnast, winning the Junior Championship title in 2014!
The AAF's mission is to support talents like Mariam in a well thought-out and effective manner. This year, choose the AAF as the charity of your choice; 100% of funds go directly to help important talents like Mariam. Do you have a musical instrument in good condition? Contact us!
