We are thrilled to unveil the remarkable individuals selected as beneficiaries of financial aid through our newest scholarship initiative: the Elizabeth Adjeleian Music Advancement Fund.
The Adjeleian family, deeply rooted in Ottawa with enduring connections to Armenia and our Foundation, has a history that resonates profoundly. Years ago, during their visit to Armenia, the late John Adjeleian and his wife Elisabeth were warmly hosted by Atken and Hasmig Armenian. This encounter marked the genesis of a powerful journey. While John and Atken have since departed, Elisabeth Adjeleian has remained resolute in her commitment to bolster various pivotal projects of the Atken Armenian Foundation, notably in the Vayots Dzor region.
In celebration of Elisabeth's 90th anniversary, her daughter Hasmig, son Paul, and a circle of devoted friends have taken on the noble task of fostering exceptional young talent in Armenia. Thus, in collaboration with our foundation, the Elizabeth Adjeleian Music Advancement Fund was born. This year, the Fund is exclusively dedicated to supporting exceptionally gifted Artsakh refugee students, enabling them to pursue their musical education despite the loss of their homes and, in many cases, hope.
Our heartfelt gratitude extends to the Adjeleian family and their friends for this profoundly impactful gift of hope, averaging approximately 1000 CAD per student. The selected students are also some of the best in their field and will represent Armenian culture on the world stage in the very near future. Both John and Atken would undoubtedly take pride in this gesture and collective endeavour.
